Rebecca Weeks - Founder

Rebecca is a delegate to the UN, attending the 2022, 2023 and 2024 Commission on the Status of Women. She has had work published on challenging neo-colonial international development and intersectional feminism alongside being a TEDx speaker, speaking about dismantling systemic rape culture in the UK.

Rebecca is a teacher, trained in trauma-based practice, with experience working in a mental health unit and with pupils with complex SEN needs. Currently, she works as the Head of Secondary Learning Support at one of the world’s leading international schools.

At SEED we commit to working hard to make sure that everything we do is led by the communities we work with. We commit to using our platform to amplify the voices of people from those communities. We will continue to be thoughtful, to critique and question our practice, to keep educating ourselves, and to understand and challenge neo-colonialist international development.

Grace Annan-Callcott - Trustee

Grace leads the learning, communications and influence work for the Data for Science & Health team at Wellcome. She supports the team to explain how trustworthy data science can advance Wellcome’s aim to solve the urgent global health challenges facing everyone, with a focus on infectious diseases, climate and health, and mental health. Before this, Grace worked as a Press Officer at Projects by IF, a technology studio specialising in ethical and practical uses of data and AI.

Grace has completed her masters in African History and Politics from Cambridge University.

Dr Frances Chaisty – Trustee

Fran is a Clinical Psychologist, completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with the University of Liverpool.

She has spent time working with women and families during the perinatal period including clients with postnatal depression and anxiety, birth trauma or difficulties connecting and attaching with baby. 

Fran has a variety of published work in international academic journals. Alongside this, she has conducted research into older adult sexuality with a focus on care home settings.

Jack Magreta – Operations Coordinator

Jack plans and directs all operations on the ground in Malawi. His duties include leading meetings within the local community, locating resources, partnering with local businesses and project managing the builders who carry out our building work.

Jack was born and raised in Thyolo, Malawi. He studied Business Management under the Association of Business Executives at MDC Polytechnic. Having lived his whole life in Thyolo, he has an in-depth knowledge of the education system in Malawi and strong views on what needs to be done to improve it. Jack is a talented sportsman and in his spare time enjoys playing football for his local village team.

Annie Mihawa - Development Advisor

Annie is in charge of building and leading our data collection team, focusing principally on ethical data collection. Annie's previous experience includes being a Research Assistant at the Centre for Development Management for a study that used financial diaries to understand the economic context of women enrolled in prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV in Malawi. She has also worked as a Program Assistant at The African Institute for Corporate Citizenship. Annie has a Degree in Social Science (Political Leadership) from The Catholic University of Malawi and has a Certificate in Research Ethics Training.

Sophia James-Sweeney – Trustee

Following a degree in Classics at the University of Exeter, Sophia taught English in a challenging secondary school as part of the TeachFirst programme. Subsequent roles were at KPMG and the Civil Service, managing Strategic Communications at the Department for Education. She has also worked as the Head of Student Support and Well-being at an east London sixth form college, managing special educational needs, safeguarding and well-being provision for over 1700 students.
